Who holds the record for the most wickets in Women's One Day Internationals?
Answer
Jhulan Goswami
Answer
Jhulan Goswami
Jhulan Goswami holds the record for the most wickets in Women's One Day Internationals, finishing her career with 255 wickets. The India fast bowler took those wickets across 204 ODIs between 2002 and 2022, establishing herself as the format's leading career wicket-taker.
Goswami became the first woman to reach 200 ODI wickets in February 2018. She passed Australia's Cathryn Fitzpatrick, who had retired with 180 wickets, in 2017. Goswami's right-arm medium pace, accuracy, movement, and ability to bowl effectively with the new ball made her one of India's most influential players for two decades.
Her record is specifically for Women's ODIs, not all women's international formats combined. That distinction matters because players also accumulate wickets in Tests and Twenty20 Internationals. Mithali Raj, one of Goswami's celebrated India teammates, holds major batting records but was not primarily a bowler, while Ellyse Perry is an accomplished all-rounder rather than the ODI wicket record-holder.
