Which city hosted the first women's Test cricket match in December 1934?

The story behind the answer

Brisbane hosted the first women’s Test cricket match in December 1934.

The match was played between Australia Women and England Women at Brisbane’s Exhibition Ground from 28 to 31 December 1934. England won by nine wickets, giving women’s Test cricket an official beginning during England’s tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Australia’s first innings ended at 47, with England all-rounder Myrtle Maclagan taking seven wickets for only 10 runs. England then made 154, before Australia managed 138 in the second innings. England needed just 34 runs in its final innings to complete the victory.

The first match was a three-day contest, unlike the four-day maximum now associated with women’s Tests. The inaugural tour also established the first three women’s Test-playing nations: England, Australia and New Zealand. A frequent mix-up places the match in Sydney, but Sydney hosted the second Test of the tour in January 1935.
