Marc Guéhi headed Manchester City’s equaliser against Bournemouth in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Guéhi scored Manchester City’s equaliser with a header at the Etihad Stadium, helping the hosts recover from a 1–0 deficit. City eventually won 2–1 after Joško Gvardiol scored the decisive goal in stoppage time.
The match was unusual because Guéhi, normally a centre-back, started in central midfield under new manager Enzo Maresca. His unexpected position made his attacking contribution particularly memorable. Bournemouth had taken the lead through Marcus Tavernier in the 26th minute.
Rayan Cherki was also central to the comeback, providing assists for both City goals after entering as a substitute. That makes him another plausible answer in casual retellings, but Cherki did not score. Gvardiol scored the winner, while Guéhi was responsible for the equaliser.
