Who has served as Tesla, Inc.’s chief executive officer since 2008?
Answer
Elon Musk
Answer
Elon Musk
Elon Musk has served as Tesla, Inc.’s chief executive officer since 2008.
Musk joined Tesla’s board as chairman in 2004, after investing in the company during its early development. He became CEO in 2008, succeeding co-founder Martin Eberhard. Musk has also led Tesla’s product strategy and has been closely associated with the company’s electric vehicles, batteries, charging network, and energy products.
A common mix-up is confusing Tesla’s CEO with its chair. Robyn Denholm became Tesla’s independent board chair in 2018, while Musk remained CEO. JB Straubel was Tesla’s longtime chief technology officer and later co-founded Redwood Materials, but he was not the company’s CEO.
Musk’s tenure covers the launch of the Model S, Model X, Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck, and Tesla’s energy-storage products. Tesla’s executive roles have changed over time, but the CEO position has remained associated with Musk since 2008.
