How many vehicles did Tesla deliver worldwide in 2023?

The story behind the answer

Tesla delivered 1,808,581 vehicles worldwide in 2023.

Tesla reported the figure in its fourth-quarter and full-year 2023 vehicle-production and delivery report. The total represented deliveries of the Model 3 and Model Y, together with the Model S and Model X. Model 3 and Model Y deliveries accounted for the overwhelming majority of the year’s volume.

Tesla’s 2023 deliveries were higher than its 2022 total of 1,313,851 vehicles. The increase reflected expanded production at several plants, including factories in Shanghai, Texas, and Berlin-Brandenburg. Tesla also continued reducing prices and increasing output of its high-volume models during the year.

Deliveries are not identical to production: a vehicle is counted as delivered when it reaches a customer, while production counts vehicles manufactured. Tesla reported 1,845,985 vehicles produced in 2023, a separate figure from the delivery total.
