What was Tesla’s first stock-market listing exchange?
Answer
NASDAQ
Answer
NASDAQ
Tesla’s first stock-market listing exchange was NASDAQ.
Tesla held its initial public offering on June 29, 2010, and its common stock began trading on the NASDAQ exchange under the ticker symbol TSLA. The offering made Tesla the first American car company to go public since Ford Motor Company’s 1956 IPO.
The listing gave Tesla access to public capital markets while the company was developing the Model S and expanding manufacturing. Tesla had already delivered the Roadster, but it remained a small automaker compared with established manufacturers at the time of the IPO.
NASDAQ is sometimes confused with the New York Stock Exchange because many large industrial companies trade there. Tesla’s exchange and ticker are separate facts: NASDAQ is the marketplace, while TSLA is the stock symbol. Tesla later became one of the most valuable publicly traded automakers in the world.
