In what year did Tesla make its first deliveries of the Semi truck?

The story behind the answer

Tesla made its first deliveries of the Semi truck in 2022.

Tesla delivered the first production Semis to PepsiCo at an event in December 2022. The Semi is a battery-electric Class 8 tractor designed for heavy-duty freight transport. Its development focused on reducing fuel and operating costs for commercial trucking fleets.

Tesla originally unveiled the Semi in 2017 and initially projected an earlier production schedule. Manufacturing and supply-chain challenges delayed regular production, so the first deliveries arrived several years after the unveiling.

The PepsiCo handover is the key milestone behind the 2022 answer. It should not be confused with the truck’s 2017 debut or later expansion of production. Tesla has offered the Semi with different projected range configurations, but delivery timing and estimated range are separate facts.
