The video uses unsettling dream imagery, including a child sleeping while ominous scenes unfold around him. The “Enter Sandman” video was also significant because Metallica had previously maintained a relatively limited relationship with music videos. The clip won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards. It is sometimes mixed up with the videos for other Black Album singles, many of which also had prominent visual campaigns.
