Who directed the film WALL-E?

Andrew Stanton directed the film WALL-E. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Jim Reardon and helped shape the film’s largely visual storytelling, which follows a small robot through long stretches with little spoken dialogue.

Stanton had already directed Finding Nemo for Pixar when he began developing WALL-E. He was interested in making a science-fiction story set in space and in exploring whether audiences could connect emotionally with a character who communicates mainly through movement, electronic sounds and expressive gestures. Sound designer Ben Burtt supplied WALL-E’s distinctive robotic vocalizations.

The film was part of Stanton’s continuing Pixar career. He had worked as a writer, storyboard artist and creative contributor on films including Toy Story and A Bug’s Life, then later directed Finding Dory. WALL-E earned Stanton an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, shared with producer Jim Morris, and also received an Oscar nomination for its original screenplay.
