Who provided the voice for Captain B. McCrea in WALL-E?
Answer
Jeff Garlin
Answer
Jeff Garlin
Jeff Garlin provided the voice for Captain B. McCrea in WALL-E. McCrea is the human captain of the starship Axiom, the vessel carrying humanity through space after Earth becomes uninhabitable.
Garlin’s role is easy to overlook because WALL-E uses very little conventional dialogue in its opening section, and several important performances come from sound effects rather than spoken lines. Garlin’s Captain McCrea becomes more prominent once the story reaches the Axiom, where the captain begins questioning the ship’s automated routines and the long-standing order to avoid returning to Earth.
The character is usually called simply “the Captain” in the film. The name “B. McCrea” appears on a portrait in his quarters rather than being spoken aloud. This can create confusion with Fred Willard, who plays Shelby Forthright, the live-action chief executive of Buy n Large. Andrew Stanton directed the film, but he did not voice Captain McCrea; his connection is as director and co-writer.
