Who directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift?

The story behind the answer

Justin Lin directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Released in 2006, Tokyo Drift was the third film in the Fast & Furious series and marked Lin’s debut as the franchise’s director. The story follows American teenager Sean Boswell, played by Lucas Black, who becomes involved in Tokyo’s drifting scene.

The film introduced Han Lue as a major character and helped establish drifting as a central driving technique within the series. Although it was released as the third installment, later films placed its events at a different point in the franchise’s internal chronology.

Rob Cohen directed the 2001 original, while James Wan directed Furious 7 and F. Gary Gray directed The Fate of the Furious. Lin later returned to direct several other franchise entries, including Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, and F9.
