Who directed the 1992 documentary about making Metallica and its following tour?

The story behind the answer

Adam Dubin directed the 1992 documentary A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica.

The two-part documentary follows the creation of Metallica’s 1991 album and the touring that followed. Its first part shows the band working with producer Bob Rock, including the tensions and arguments that shaped the demanding sessions.

The second part follows the band on the road, including performances and backstage material from the Wherever We May Roam Tour and the 1992 stadium tour with Guns N’ Roses. The film therefore documents both the record’s production and its transformation into a global live success.

Juliana Roberts produced the documentary, while Dubin directed it. Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky are associated with the later Metallica documentary Some Kind of Monster, so their names are plausible but incorrect answers here.
