Who directed the 1989 Christmas comedy National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation?
Answer
Jeremiah S. Chechik
Answer
Jeremiah S. Chechik
Jeremiah S. Chechik directed the 1989 Christmas comedy National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
The film follows Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase, as his plan for a perfect family Christmas collapses into a series of disasters. Beverly D'Angelo plays his wife, Ellen, while Randy Quaid portrays the unpredictable cousin Eddie.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation was Chechik's feature-film directing debut. The screenplay was written by John Hughes, based on his 1980s National Lampoon short story “Christmas '59.” Hughes had also written the earlier Vacation films, but he did not direct this installment.
The movie was released in the United States on December 1, 1989, and became a long-running Christmas favorite. A common mix-up is crediting Hughes as director because of his prominent writing role and association with the Vacation series. Chechik later directed films including Benny & Joon and television episodes of Chuck and Burn Notice.
