In the 1990 Christmas film Home Alone, what nickname do Harry and Marv give their burglary partnership?

The story behind the answer

In the 1990 Christmas film Home Alone, Harry and Marv call their burglary partnership the Wet Bandits.

The nickname comes from their habit of leaving taps running at houses they rob, creating water damage after the burglary. Harry Lime and Marv Murchins use the name while targeting homes in Kevin McCallister’s neighborhood during the Christmas vacation.

Kevin’s traps expose the pair to a series of comic injuries after they break into his apparently empty house. The burglars’ self-advertised name is one of the film’s recurring jokes, because their attempted thefts become increasingly chaotic and their reputation is undermined by one child.

In the sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, the pair return with a modified identity: they are known as the Sticky Bandits. That later nickname refers to their plan to steal money from a toy store and leave glue-covered coins behind. The change is a common source of mix-ups between the two films.
