Who directed Metallica's award-winning Enter Sandman video from The Black Album era?

The story behind the answer

Wayne Isham directed Metallica's award-winning Enter Sandman video from The Black Album era.

The promotional film accompanied the album's lead single, which was released on July 29, 1991. Isham's video helped present Metallica to a wider television audience while retaining the song's dark, unsettling atmosphere. Enter Sandman became one of the band's best-known songs and a defining track of the early 1990s.

The video later won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards. That recognition added to the song's chart success and helped cement the album's mainstream visibility. Metallica's campaign used videos for nearly all of the album's singles, but Enter Sandman's clip became the most closely associated with the record's breakthrough.

Adam Dubin is an easy name to confuse with Isham because he directed the later Nothing Else Matters video. Sean Fullan edited that clip, while Michael Kamen arranged the orchestral parts for Nothing Else Matters. Neither directed Enter Sandman's award-winning video.
