Who directed James Cameron’s 1994 action-comedy film True Lies?

The story behind the answer

James Cameron directed the 1994 action-comedy film True Lies.

Cameron also wrote and produced the film, adapting it from the 1991 French action comedy La Totale! The story follows Harry Tasker, a secret agent whose family believes he works as a computer salesman. His professional life becomes entangled with his marriage after a terrorist plot develops.

Arnold Schwarzenegger played Harry, while Jamie Lee Curtis played his wife Helen. The film combined espionage, large-scale action, comedy, and domestic misunderstanding, making it different in tone from Cameron’s more overtly science-fiction projects.

True Lies was Cameron’s first film after Terminator 2: Judgment Day and became one of the major commercial releases of 1994. It is sometimes confused with La Totale!, the French source film, but Cameron directed the English-language remake rather than the original.
