Who directed Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw?

The story behind the answer

David Leitch directed Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

Leitch brought experience from highly choreographed action films to the 2019 spin-off. Before directing Hobbs & Shaw, he had co-directed John Wick, directed Atomic Blonde, and made Deadpool 2. His background helped give the film a distinct action-comedy tone built around large stunts, hand-to-hand combat, and the contrasting personalities of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.

The screenplay was credited to Chris Morgan and Drew Pearce. Morgan had been a major writer in the Fast & Furious series, while Pearce had worked on projects including Iron Man 3. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham led the cast as the title characters.

Leitch is sometimes confused with Justin Lin because Lin directed several central Fast & Furious installments. They have different roles in the franchise: Lin directed multiple numbered films, while Leitch directed the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off. The film also marked an expansion of the series into a separate character-led branch.
