Jon Amiel directed Entrapment (1999), the heist thriller starring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Connery plays veteran art thief Robert MacDougal, while Zeta-Jones plays insurance investigator Virginia Baker. The plot follows their uneasy partnership as they pursue valuable artworks and attempt a major international theft.
The film moves through locations including London, Kuala Lumpur, and Scotland. Its best-known set piece involves an elaborate laser-security challenge at the Petronas Towers in Malaysia.
Entrapment was released in 1999 and became especially associated with the Petronas Towers, which had opened only a few years earlier. Jon Amiel had previously directed films including Sommersby and Copycat.
