In Reservoir Dogs (1992), the undercover police officer is given the color code name Mr. Orange.
Mr. Orange is actually Freddy Newandyke, a police officer who infiltrates a group assembled for a diamond robbery. Tim Roth plays the character, whose false criminal identity is central to the film’s tension.
The other criminals are assigned color names by Joe Cabot, the organizer of the heist. The system avoids using real names, but it also creates friction because several characters resist the labels or suspect one another.
Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed Reservoir Dogs, his feature-film debut. The movie was released in 1992 and is known for its nonlinear structure, intense dialogue, and aftermath-focused approach to a botched robbery.
