Zac Posen designed Princess Eugenie’s second wedding dress for her 2018 evening reception.
The American designer created a blush-toned silk gown for the evening celebration at Windsor Castle. Its design included a cape-like effect and a white York rose motif, linking the modern dress to Eugenie’s family and the history of York. The rose was embroidered on the shoulder and back of the garment.
Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank on 12 October 2018 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Earlier that day she wore a different wedding gown designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos. Zac Posen’s creation was therefore her reception dress, not the ceremony gown.
That distinction is the main source of confusion in accounts of the wedding. The first dress was structured and deliberately revealed the scar from Eugenie’s childhood scoliosis surgery; the second emphasized evening glamour and a soft blush color.
