Who designed Meghan Markle’s wedding dress for her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry?
Answer
Clare Waight Keller
Answer
Clare Waight Keller
Clare Waight Keller designed Meghan Markle’s wedding dress for her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry.
The gown was made by Givenchy, where Keller was artistic director from 2017 to 2020. It used a minimalist white silk cady design, a bateau neckline, and three-quarter sleeves. The look contrasted with heavily decorated royal wedding gowns.
A notable detail was the embroidered veil, which included floral motifs representing the 53 countries of the Commonwealth, plus California poppy and wintersweet flowers connected with Meghan and Harry. The veil was five metres long.
People sometimes confuse the dress designer with Stella McCartney, who designed Meghan’s white reception dress. Keller designed the ceremony gown, while McCartney created the evening outfit.
