Answer
Michel Ancel
Who created the Rayman series? The answer is Michel Ancel.
Michel Ancel is the Monégasque-French video game designer who created Rayman for Ubisoft. He conceived the character as a teenager in the 1980s, while developing his skills in drawing, animation, music, and programming. His idea eventually became Ubisoft's first major internationally recognized character franchise.
Ancel joined Ubi Soft as a graphic artist in the late 1980s and began developing Rayman in the early 1990s. He served as the original game's lead designer and helped shape its colorful characters, whimsical environments, and distinctive animation. Rayman was released in 1995, initially appearing on platforms including the PlayStation, Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn, and MS-DOS.
Creating a series is usually a team effort, so Ancel was not the sole developer of every Rayman game. Frédéric Houde and many other artists, programmers, designers, and producers contributed to the original project and its sequels. Nevertheless, Michel Ancel is the canonical creator of the franchise. Cliff Bleszinski, Hideo Kojima, and Shigeru Miyamoto created or led other notable game properties.
