Who composed the musical score for the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service?

The story behind the answer

John Barry composed the musical score for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

The 1969 film was Barry’s sixth Bond score. He used a prominent electronic synthesizer theme for the main title and wrote the instrumental theme that later became widely known as “James Bond Theme” material in the franchise’s musical tradition. The soundtrack also included the song “We Have All the Time in the World,” performed by Louis Armstrong.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service was George Lazenby’s only official appearance as James Bond. The film was directed by Peter R. Hunt and adapted from Ian Fleming’s 1963 novel, which is often regarded as one of the author’s most emotionally serious Bond stories.

Monty Norman wrote the original James Bond theme for Dr. No, while Barry arranged and developed the familiar recorded version. That distinction explains why both composers are sometimes incorrectly credited with every Bond score.
