Hamish McColl co-wrote the screenplay for the 2014 film Paddington with director Paul King.

The screenplay adapts Michael Bond’s Paddington stories for a live-action family film. McColl and King shaped the story around Paddington’s arrival in London, his meeting with the Brown family and the threat posed by the taxidermist Millicent Clyde.

Paul King directed the film as well as co-writing it. The production combines live-action performances with computer-generated imagery to place Paddington alongside human actors in recognisable London locations.

The screenplay credit is sometimes confused with the film’s original music credit, which belongs to composer Nick Urata. Hamish McColl’s contribution was writing the screenplay, not composing the score.
