Who co-composed Spyro: Year of the Dragon with Stewart Copeland?
Answer
Ryan Beveridge
Answer
Ryan Beveridge
Ryan Beveridge co-composed Spyro: Year of the Dragon with Stewart Copeland.
Year of the Dragon is the third Spyro game developed by Insomniac Games and was released for the original PlayStation in 2000. Its music is credited to Stewart Copeland, the former drummer of The Police, with Ryan Beveridge also credited as a composer. Copeland had already scored the earlier Insomniac Spyro games and returned for the third installment.
Copeland’s process began with playing through the levels to absorb each world’s atmosphere. He used more complex harmonies and bass lines to keep repeated listening interesting, while shifting toward orchestral textures or energetic percussion when the gameplay demanded it. The PlayStation’s CD format gave the soundtrack room for high-quality audio.
A common mistake is to identify Copeland as the sole credited composer because he is the best-known musician associated with the score. Guy Cockcroft, Gabriel Mann, and Robert Baffy are not the co-composer named in the game’s standard credits and reference information.
