Who became host of The Daily Show after Jon Stewart left in 2015?

The story behind the answer

Trevor Noah became host of The Daily Show after Jon Stewart left in 2015.

Noah, a South African comedian who had joined the program as a contributor in December 2014, officially took over on September 28, 2015. Stewart had hosted since 1999 and made the show a major source of political satire and commentary.

Noah’s tenure introduced a host with an international background and a different comedic perspective. He remained host until December 2022, when the program entered a rotating-host period before returning to a regular-host format.

The succession is sometimes confused with Larry Wilmore’s The Nightly Show, another Comedy Central program that occupied part of the network’s late-night schedule during Noah’s early years. Wilmore did not replace Stewart on The Daily Show.
