Which Xbox console was the first to support HDR10 gaming?
Answer
Xbox One S
Answer
Xbox One S
The Xbox One S was the first Xbox console to support HDR10 gaming.
Microsoft introduced HDR10 gaming support with the Xbox One S, released in 2016. High-dynamic-range output allows compatible displays to show a wider range between dark and bright areas, along with expanded color capabilities. HDR10 uses static metadata and became one of the principal HDR formats for televisions and games.
The Xbox One S added HDR support while remaining smaller and lighter than the original Xbox One. It also included a built-in power supply and an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive. Games had to receive suitable patches or be designed for HDR to take advantage of the feature, and a compatible HDR television was required.
The more powerful Xbox One X also supported HDR10, but it was not the first Xbox to do so. The Xbox 360 and original Xbox predated HDR10 gaming support on Xbox hardware.
