The Xbox One X was marketed as the world's most powerful console at its 2017 launch.
Microsoft released Xbox One X on November 7, 2017. The system was a premium member of the Xbox One family, offering considerably more graphics-processing power than the original Xbox One and Xbox One S. Microsoft promoted it as “the world's most powerful console” at launch.
Xbox One X targeted native 4K gaming and improved visual performance in games that received enhanced patches. It remained compatible with the existing Xbox One game library, and selected Xbox 360 and original Xbox games also benefited from backward-compatibility enhancements.
The console was not a new generation in the same sense as Xbox Series X|S. It used the Xbox One software ecosystem and launched several years after Xbox One. Its successor within Microsoft's next generation was Xbox Series X, released in 2020.
