The Xbox One S introduced the slimmer hardware design known as the Xbox One S.
Microsoft announced the Xbox One S at E3 2016 and released it in August 2016. It was a redesigned version of the original Xbox One, with a smaller white enclosure, an integrated power supply, and support for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray playback and high-dynamic-range gaming.
The Xbox One S did not replace the Xbox One X as Microsoft's high-performance model; the Xbox One X arrived later, in November 2017. The Xbox 360 S is also a separate redesign from 2010, which makes the similar model names easy to confuse.
Microsoft later released the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition in 2019. That variant removed the optical disc drive, while the standard Xbox One S retained one. The Xbox Series S, released in 2020, belongs to the next console generation.
