The Xbox 360 S introduced the Kinect sensor as an optional successor to the original Xbox 360 model.
Microsoft released the Xbox 360 S, commonly called the Slim, in 2010. It featured a redesigned black chassis, integrated Wi-Fi, a quieter cooling system, and a dedicated port designed to connect the Kinect motion-sensing device without a separate power adapter.
Kinect itself was sold separately and used cameras, microphones, and depth sensing to track players' movements and voice commands. It launched in November 2010 and was compatible with both the Xbox 360 S and earlier Xbox 360 systems.
The Xbox 360 E followed in 2013 with another exterior redesign. Xbox One later included a different Kinect generation, so the console model and the accessory should not be treated as the same product.
