Which writer is credited as the creator of the Uncharted franchise?

The story behind the answer

Amy Hennig is credited as the creator of the Uncharted video-game franchise.

Hennig was a writer and creative director at Naughty Dog, the studio that developed the original Uncharted games. The franchise began with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, released for the PlayStation 3 in 2007, and follows treasure hunter Nathan Drake through globe-spanning adventures inspired by historical mysteries, pulp fiction, and action cinema.

“Creator” does not mean Hennig worked alone. Uncharted was made by large teams at Naughty Dog, and different directors, designers, programmers, artists, and performers shaped the games. Hennig’s credit reflects her central role in conceiving the series and writing its early characters, story, and tone. She served as creative director and writer on the first three main games.

The other names in the choices are also associated with the franchise, but in different capacities. Josh Scherr was a writer and designer, Bruce Straley directed Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 4, and Neil Druckmann later became a major writer and director at Naughty Dog. Those contributions do not replace Hennig’s standard creator credit.
