Kazuya Mishima is from the Tekken video game series.
Kazuya debuted in the original Tekken in 1994 as the protagonist and later became one of the franchise’s central antagonists. He is the son of Heihachi Mishima, and the family’s violent rivalry drives much of Tekken’s story. Kazuya enters the King of Iron Fist Tournament seeking revenge after Heihachi throws him from a cliff as a child.
His signature transformation is Devil Kazuya, connected to the Devil Gene inherited through his mother, Kazumi. That demonic form is reflected in his special abilities and became an important part of his identity across later Tekken games. His fighting style is based on Mishima-style karate.
Kazuya joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the fifth fighter in the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 lineup, arriving in 2021. Ultimate adapts many Tekken ideas into Smash, including his Electric Wind God Fist, Devil transformation, and dramatic family-themed presentation. He is sometimes confused with Street Fighter’s Ryu or Virtua Fighter characters, but his home series is unmistakably Tekken.
