Which venue hosted Arsenal’s 2026–27 Premier League opener against Coventry City?

The story behind the answer

Emirates Stadium hosted Arsenal’s 2026–27 Premier League opener against Coventry City.

The match took place on Friday 21 August 2026, when Arsenal began their title defence with a 3–0 win. Emirates Stadium is Arsenal’s home ground in Holloway, London, and it has been the club’s principal stadium since the move from Highbury in 2006.

The venue staged the opening fixture because Arsenal were drawn at home in the first round. The Premier League’s fixture release specifically identified Emirates Stadium as the location for the season’s first match. Coventry therefore began their return to the top flight at the home of the reigning champions.

The stadium should not be confused with Wembley Stadium, England’s national stadium, or Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s home ground. Villa Park is also a major Premier League venue, but it belongs to Aston Villa, who opened the season away at Brighton.
