Which Uncharted game first added online multiplayer?
Answer
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Answer
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was the first Uncharted game to add online multiplayer. Released in 2009 for PlayStation 3, it expanded the series beyond its single-player cinematic adventures with both competitive and cooperative online modes.
Competitive matches supported teams of up to five players, with modes including Deathmatch, Plunder, Elimination, Turf War, King of the Hill, and Chain Reaction. Cooperative play allowed two or three players to work together through combat, platforming, and objective-based missions, including Gold Rush and Survival.
The first game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, was single-player only, so it did not introduce online multiplayer. Later entries built on the feature: Uncharted 3 added expanded multiplayer systems, and Uncharted 4 continued the online component on PlayStation 4.
A frequent source of confusion is that Uncharted 2’s multiplayer servers are no longer active. Sony and Naughty Dog terminated the PlayStation 3 servers on September 3, 2019, but that later shutdown does not change which game first introduced the feature.
