Which U2 member is known by the stage name The Edge?
Answer
David Howell Evans
Answer
David Howell Evans
David Howell Evans is the U2 member known by the stage name The Edge.
Born in Barking, England, on 8 August 1961, Evans grew up largely in County Dublin and joined the band during its earliest development. He is U2’s guitarist, keyboard player, and a major contributor to the group’s musical arrangements. His atmospheric guitar effects became central to the band’s sound.
The nickname “The Edge” was reportedly given by Bono, partly reflecting Evans’s angular facial features and reserved personality. He has used the name professionally throughout U2’s career, while writing credits commonly identify him as “The Edge.”
A frequent mistake is to treat The Edge as a separate fifth member or to identify him as Bono. The Edge is David Evans, Bono is Paul Hewson, Adam Clayton plays bass, and Larry Mullen Jr. plays drums.
