Which U2 album was released in 2017 as the follow-up to Songs of Innocence?

Songs of Experience was released in 2017 as the follow-up to U2’s Songs of Innocence.

Songs of Experience is U2’s fourteenth studio album and was released on 1 December 2017. It was conceived as a thematic companion to Songs of Innocence, which had appeared in 2014. Together, the titles refer to William Blake’s poetry collections Songs of Innocence and of Experience.

The album includes “You’re the Best Thing About Me,” “Get Out of Your Own Way,” and “Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way.” Its songs address personal relationships, political anxiety, and the passage from youth into later life.

The album’s title is sometimes confused with U2’s earlier records because the band had previously used paired concepts and related themes. Songs of Experience is nevertheless the direct companion to Songs of Innocence and was released three years after it.
