U2’s Zooropa won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 1994. The award recognized the band’s experimental 1993 release, which grew out of the creative momentum of the Zoo TV Tour.
Zooropa was U2’s eighth studio album and was recorded in Dublin and Germany. Brian Eno and Flood helped produce it, and the record explores electronic textures, media saturation, uncertainty, and the changing atmosphere of post-Cold War Europe. Its tracks include “Numb,” “Lemon,” and “Stay (Faraway, So Close!).”
The album is often confused with Achtung Baby because both belong to U2’s early-1990s experimental period. Zooropa was not a live album or a collection of remixes; it was a separate studio project released in July 1993.
