The U2 album released in 1987 that includes “Where the Streets Have No Name” and “With or Without You” is The Joshua Tree.
The album was released on 9 March 1987 and became U2’s breakthrough into the largest level of global stadium recognition. It also contains “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” giving the record three of the band’s best-known songs.
Daniel Lanois produced the album with Brian Eno, and recording took place in Ireland. The music combines U2’s rock sound with American blues, gospel, and roots influences, while the lyrics explore spiritual longing, politics, and the mythology of the United States.
The Joshua Tree is sometimes confused with Rattle and Hum because the latter followed it and expanded the band’s engagement with American music. Rattle and Hum is a separate 1988 album and film project.
