Which two Premier League matches were scheduled for 14:00 BST on Sunday 23 August 2026?

Manchester City–Bournemouth and Brighton–Aston Villa were scheduled for 14:00 BST on Sunday 23 August 2026.

The Premier League placed both matches in the same Sunday time slot. Brighton’s participation in the UEFA Conference League qualifying play-offs on the preceding Thursday was given as the reason for the unusual scheduling arrangement.

Manchester City hosted Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, while Brighton & Hove Albion hosted Aston Villa. Newcastle United versus Liverpool followed later that afternoon at 16:30 BST.

This pair is easy to confuse with the other opening-weekend fixtures because the round was spread from Friday through Monday. The Sunday programme contained three matches altogether, but only these two shared the 14:00 kickoff.
