Twitter’s Bookmarks feature lets users save posts privately for later reading.
Twitter introduced Bookmarks in 2018 as a way to keep individual posts without publicly liking them or sending them to another person. A user can select the bookmark option on a post, then find saved items in a personal Bookmarks section.
The feature differs from a like, which historically communicated public approval and could be viewed through a profile. It also differs from Lists, which organize accounts into topic-based timelines rather than storing individual posts. Drafts are unfinished posts and are not the same as saved bookmarks.
The feature remained associated with Twitter after the company rebranded as X in 2023. Interface labels and placement can change between app versions, but the core purpose remains private retrieval of posts. Bookmarks are especially useful for articles, announcements, recipes, and other material a user wants to revisit.
