Tesla’s factory located in Austin, Texas, is Gigafactory Texas.

The facility is also known as Giga Texas or Gigafactory 5. Tesla selected Austin as the site in 2020, construction progressed rapidly, and the factory hosted its grand opening, called Cyber Rodeo, in April 2022.

Gigafactory Texas was built to produce Tesla vehicles, including the Model Y and Cybertruck. It also became associated with production of the Tesla Semi and the company’s 4680 battery cells. Its large footprint made it one of Tesla’s most important North American manufacturing projects.
