Chelsea won 3–2 away at Fulham in the final match of 2026–27 Premier League Matchweek 1.
The west London derby was played at Craven Cottage on Monday 24 August 2026. Chelsea’s victory completed the opening Match Round, which had begun three days earlier with Arsenal versus Coventry City.
Chelsea led 2–1 at half-time and eventually secured a 3–2 win. Cole Palmer starred for Chelsea, while the result gave new manager Xabi Alonso a winning start in the Premier League.
The match was the tenth and final fixture of the opening round. It followed nine games played from Friday through Sunday, including Newcastle United’s 2–2 draw with Liverpool and Brighton’s 4–0 win over Aston Villa. The Monday conclusion was the only Matchweek 1 fixture held after the traditional weekend schedule.
