Which team scored four first-half goals in the 2026–27 Premier League opening round?
Answer
Brighton & Hove Albion
Answer
Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton & Hove Albion scored four first-half goals in the 2026–27 Premier League opening round.
Brighton led Aston Villa 4–0 by the 31st minute on 23 August 2026. Jack Hinshelwood scored twice, Maxim De Cuyper added another, and Villa defender Victor Lindelöf scored an own goal.
The performance made Brighton only the fourth side to score four first-half goals in Matchweek 1 of the Premier League. The previous clubs were Bolton Wanderers in 2001, Manchester United in 2007 and Liverpool in 2020.
Brighton did not add to the total after half-time, but the four-goal burst was enough to secure the round’s biggest home win. It should not be confused with the competition’s overall opening-weekend record, which belongs to Chelsea’s 6–0 win over West Bromwich Albion in 2010.
