Which team hosted Aston Villa in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend’s biggest home win?
Answer
Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton & Hove Albion hosted Aston Villa in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend’s biggest home win.
Brighton defeated Aston Villa 4–0 at home on Sunday, 23 August 2026. The result was recorded as the biggest home win of the Premier League season at the time covered by the season article.
The match was scheduled for 14:00 BST and was one of two Sunday fixtures played in that time slot. Manchester City versus AFC Bournemouth was the other. Newcastle United versus Liverpool followed later that afternoon at 16:30.
Brighton’s home stadium is the American Express Stadium, commonly known as the Amex, in Falmer. Aston Villa play at Villa Park in Birmingham. The result therefore combined a substantial scoreline with one of the opening weekend’s most geographically distinct fixtures, rather than a local derby or a meeting between two promoted clubs.
