Which team finished the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend top of the table on goal difference?

Brighton & Hove Albion finished the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend top of the table on goal difference.

Brighton defeated Aston Villa 4–0 at home, giving them a goal difference of plus four. No other winning club matched that margin, so Brighton led the early standings after one match.

Arsenal and Brentford also won by three goals, while Everton, Hull City, Chelsea, Ipswich Town, Manchester City and Leeds United all recorded victories. Brighton therefore led on goal difference rather than points alone.

This was only an opening-round ranking, not a prediction of the final champion. Early tables are heavily influenced by one result, and Brighton’s four-goal margin was later surpassed in the season by other matches.
