Everton defeated Crystal Palace 2–0 in their first Premier League match of the 2026–27 season.
The match was played at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored before half-time, and Thierno Barry added the second goal after the interval.
The victory gave Everton their first opening Premier League win in five years. It also ended a run of eight top-flight matches without a victory, making the result especially valuable at the start of the campaign.
Crystal Palace began the season under new manager Pierre Sage. Their difficult afternoon was compounded by an injury to defender Chadi Riad, who was carried off during the match. Everton’s win therefore combined a strong result with a clean sheet and a memorable first league victory at their new home.
