Brighton & Hove Albion faced Aston Villa on Sunday of the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was scheduled for Sunday 23 August 2026 at 14:00 BST. It was played at Brighton’s home ground, the Falmer Stadium, and was listed alongside Manchester City versus Bournemouth in the afternoon schedule.
The fixture’s timing reflected Brighton’s involvement in the UEFA Conference League qualification play-offs on the preceding Thursday. The Premier League placed Brighton’s opening match on Sunday to accommodate that European commitment.
Brighton played at the Falmer Stadium, which was listed with a capacity of 32,176. Aston Villa’s home venue was Villa Park in Birmingham, but this opening-round meeting took place on the south coast.
