Which team did Argentina beat in the 1986 FIFA World Cup final?

The story behind the answer

Argentina beat West Germany 3–2 in the 1986 FIFA World Cup final.

The final was played on 29 June 1986 at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca. José Luis Brown and Jorge Valdano gave Argentina a 2–0 lead, but West Germany quickly fought back through Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Rudi Völler.

Jorge Burruchaga scored the winning goal in the 84th minute after receiving a decisive pass from Diego Maradona. The victory gave Argentina their second World Cup title, following their 1978 triumph on home soil.

A common mix-up is confusing West Germany with Belgium, whom Argentina defeated in the semi-final. West Germany had also reached the previous final in 1982, losing to Italy.
