Which Swedish heavy metal band released the album 'Twilight of the Thunder God'?

The story behind the answer

The Swedish heavy metal band that released 'Twilight of the Thunder God' is Amon Amarth.

'Twilight of the Thunder God' is Amon Amarth's seventh studio album, released in September 2008 by Metal Blade Records. The band is known for melodic death metal shaped by Norse mythology, and the album's title refers to Thor's battle with the Midgard Serpent, Jörmungandr.

The record was produced by Jens Bogren and recorded at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. Its title track features a guest guitar solo by Roope Latvala, while Apocalyptica contributed cellos to 'Live for the Kill'. These collaborations added extra colour without moving the band away from its melodic, crushing sound.

The album was a major breakthrough for Amon Amarth. It reached number 11 in Sweden and number 50 on the US Billboard 200, the band's first album to appear on that chart. Opeth, Arch Enemy, and Sabaton are also Swedish metal bands, but they did not release this album.
