Which studio developed Crash Nitro Kart? Vicarious Visions developed Crash Nitro Kart.
The 2003 kart-racing game was made for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube, with Universal Interactive as publisher. It followed Naughty Dog’s Crash Team Racing, but Naughty Dog did not develop this sequel. Development began with Traveller’s Tales before production duties moved to Vicarious Visions, where the project was briefly known as Crash Team Racing 2.
Vicarious Visions also built the game using Intrinsic Alchemy, a technology the studio acquired from Intrinsic Graphics. The studio’s work included the gameplay, character models, and in-game animation systems. Red Eye Studios separately produced the pre-rendered full-motion video scenes, which is why some credits can appear confusing.
A common mix-up is Toys for Bob, the studio behind Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Eurocom worked on other licensed games, while Naughty Dog created the original Crash trilogy and Crash Team Racing. The Game Boy Advance version of Crash Nitro Kart was also developed by Vicarious Visions, but it was a separate adaptation.
